What is RaceTeam Epic?
RaceTeam Epic is a 10 week hill based/strength half marathon training programme. It has been designed for our runners to build strength over winter ready for races and events in the latter part of the year, it's not a programme designed for someone who is wanting to do their first half marathon.
Before you start Epic you need to have a good base running fitness, around 10-12km+.
This programme has been designed to be challenging both physically and mentally, you will be training in winter, there are a lot of hill repeat sessions and it will test you.
Epic is a morning programme only. There are 3 coach-lead group sessions a week:
Monday 6.00am: HIIT/Track Session - Netball Courts, South Hagley Park
Wednesday 6.00am: Hill Repeat Session - Hackthorne Road
Saturday 7.30am*: Locations change weekly
*During the programme some Saturday sessions start at 7.00am.
The Epic Half Marathon itself is one we have designed just for the Epic team (not open to the public) and is in and around the hills of Christchurch. Over the 10 weeks of training you will do each section of the course so on race day you just have to put it all together!
